This Blue Oyster Future Farm offering is a humble plot of the Golden Gills farm that you get to grow wherever you like! You'll only need a sharp knife or blade, and something to mist your farm (we highly suggest an ultra-fine mist sprayer). You don't even need a green thumb!
First, we did all the heavy lifting by creating the substrate, which is the block your mushrooms will fruit from.
We also designed these little farm houses for you to keep your Future Farm tidy. You should expect your new farm to produce at least 1.5 lbs of fresh mushrooms for you with virtually no power and very little effort beyond misting your little plot of land and keeping it out of direct sunlight.
Our substrate is made by human hands in small batches with love, sawdust (the waste part of woodworking), soybean hulls (the waste part of soybean production) and the spent espresso pucks we recycle with local cafes.
We call that coffee waste that works!
All Future Farms are made to order. Upon ordering, your farm will be inoculated within 1-2 days and set to colonize until it is safe to ship. This typically takes 10 days. Your order will be shipped immediately upon readiness, or if stock opens up and we are able to accommodate your order sooner. We are an efficient, yet human-run farm and we strive to get orders out as quickly as possible.

OUR PAPER Our Future Farm box suppliers' corrugated material is 100% recyclable. Their local paper supplier is a member of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) who certifies that any products that come from a forest has been sourced in an environmentally-friendly, socially-responsible, and economically viable manner. They are also a member of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. Our Future Farm box suppliers' recycled content ranges from 10% to 45% depending on the paper type. All inner fluting is from 100% recycled material.
OUR PARTNERS Our Future Farm box suppliers are proud supporters of TreesCharlotte, a nonprofit group dedicated to planting and preserving trees. Working primarily through volunteer efforts, TreesCharlotte focuses on caring for underserved communities in and around Charlotte. Golden Gills' commitment to sourcing sustainable supplies has an additional focus on sourcing local and regional suppliers where possible. We wish to source responsibly, which sometimes also makes things slightly more expensive. We try not to pass the cost on to the consumer as much as possible.
